Boy!

According to the ultrasound tech, he is perfect. His heart, brain, spine, and everything else are developing just as they should! Thank you so much for your prayers for our healthy baby boy. Please continue to pray that he continues to grow and develop into a wonderful little boy I can hold in September and many years to come! Oh, pregnancy hormones make me so sappy these days.

Intelligender Test

It's finally almost here... the week of our anatomy ultrasound! If you know me, you know how I've been counting down to finding out whether we are going to have a boy or a girl. Honestly and truly, it does not matter. I just want to know so I can give it a name and start building him/her a space to call their own.

I had originally planned to do all sorts of things leading up to the ultrasound that are supposed to predict a baby's gender. Before you go rolling your eyes, just know that I do not put any stock in these results, but it is fun just to see.

Well, when I planned this, I did not foresee working all day as part of the equation. In the mornings, I want to sleep a little longer (that would be true with or without being pregnant) and in the evenings I just want to relax. Therefore, a lot of my plans went down the toilet! But there was one test that I was convinced that I had to do, The Intelligender Test!

If you've never heard of this before, The Intelligender Test is a test you can buy at CVS, Wal-greens, etc, that is supposed to predict the baby's gender. I commonly refer to it as the pee potion test. It can be done as early as 10 weeks along, but I didn't want to do it that early! The week of the ultrasound, however, sounded like the perfect time!

So, early this morning I sent Daniel to CVS to pick up the test... the following pictures document the experience! (Warning: Some of these pictures may be TMI, mainly pee pee!)

IT'S A GIRL?

According to the test, it's a girl! But we'll know for sure on Tuesday afternoon after our doctor's appointment.

Please Baby Mills is cooperative for the doctor and doesn't get camera shy. He or she has not be "photographed" since the 8 week mark and we're at 19 weeks now. Also (and more importantly), pray that Baby Mills is healthy. The true reason for this ultrasound is to check to make sure he or she is developing correctly. We already love him/her so much and can't wait to hear what the doctor has to say.

Visit from the Sgros!

Last week, we had an amazing opportunity to see the Sgro family while they were in were in Virginia Amanda's family. After work on Wednesday, we met them at the half-way mark between our two locations (Richmond) to eat at Cracker Barrel.

I always love meeting up with them, having some girl talk with Amanda, and seeing how much Eden's personality has changed. She is quiet an outgoing, stylish, goofy girl. It is such an amazing honor to watch her group up from age 2 to now being 7. I can never express my appreciation of John and Amanda and their openness to both Daniel and me. Okay, before I get all sappy, let's look at some pictures from the visit shall we?

I am beyond thrilled that they are closer than they were when we are in Birmingham. Now they are only a short plane ride and a bus ride away. Okay, that may sound like an sequel Trains, Planes, and Automobiles, but trust me, so much nicer than a 13+ hour car ride. Especially with Baby Mills coming soon!

Baby Bump and Gender

Although I have known about Baby Mills for a long time, I felt silly taking baby bump pictures till I felt like I actually had something to show. But, around 15 weeks, the bump started to be a little bit more noticeable. Here are some pictures that capture it.

Next week (April 12th), we have our next ultrasound. Through this ultrasound, the doctor will check to make sure everything is developing as it should and be able to tell us whether Baby Mills is a boy or a girl!

I'm so excited to finally know! I know in reality it hasn't been that long, but my heart feels like its been years. It does not truly matter the gender, but having the answer to this simple question will make planning a lot easier for me. Although I have had several friends lately who have chosen not to find out the gender of their children, I am not sure if I could ever make it that far! Kudos those of you can. I admire you and your patience a lot because the suspense is killing me!

He or she is due to arrive somewhere around September 5th or 11th. The doctors can't agree. Now that's the mark of a true D.C. baby!

California Adventure

During the month of February, Daniel had a business trip to California and I decided to tag along! The joys of not starting my new job full-time until April! :)

January

January was also a big month...

The first two weeks of the month, Daniel had training in Georgia so I went home. Something about spending my 25th birthday in a town where I didn't know very many people did not seem appealing!

During my visit, I had an opportunity to relax, pig out, and hang out with friends I haven't had the opportunity to see in a while. It was so nice! Even Andy came to visit for a couple of days. After his training, Daniel drove through Tennessee to pick me up. We even had the chance to meet up with his mom and spend some time with her before we headed back to Virginia.

Back in Virginia, I was very homesick for my puppy boy and insisted we hit the road running on the house hunt. We were very fortunate to find a house to accommodate the three of us (!!), Andy, and company in an area of town where we people knew also lived.
